bunch.
haven't posted in a while, so i thought i'd upload a bunch of old stuff.
--------------------------
this is from my Illustration II class, spring 08. the assignment for the whole semester was to illustrate 5 pieces for a book of your choice. i chose the book "me talk pretty one day" by david sedaris, and this first piece illustrates his "crap in the toilet" chapter. im horrible at drawing, so i had to do a simple line drawing in illustrator.

--------------------------
i took this photo of the washington monument, and heavily edited it in photoshop.

--------------------------
and these are some polaroids i took a while back.

i heart ny.

this was an assignment for my type III class. i had to create a poster that responds to the i love ny logo. it was a pretty open assignment, and i chose to create an i love hawaii image. then i had to attach more of a purpose to my poster, so i created a jet blue ad that someone would see in a subway.
i liked this assignment. i created most of the image in photoshop, from tutorials i found online. i used my own image of sand, and photoshopped in the words. i also photoshopped in the shell. the final size is 16x24.
and i took this photo in newport, oregon this summer. that color tint is from my sunglasses that i put over the lens.

i miss the summer.

fave.
this is probably my favorite photo from my trip to oregon and washington. taken at the portland rose garden. no editing done.

holla.

sex.
i had to design a sex education poster for vis comm.
the poster could be sponsored by a group of my choice and i
chose to represent the gay and lesbian medical association.
my focus was on condom promotion. i chose to market my poster towards gay males, and wanted my poster to seem like an underwear ad, and where the blue label seems like it was just stuck onto an existing poster.
the final product is huge ass, 20x30 inches.

hot hot hot.

print.
this is somewhat old, from fall 07 for visual communications.
the assignment was to create a cover for the print magazine student cover contest, with the theme "design culture youth". the idea for my cover was inspired by coloring books.
as we get older and make the transition from children to young adults, we start to find ourselves and our own personalities, which is what i tried to represent with the figures coloring themselves in. i'm pretty happy with the end result.

popular.
as of may 10th 2008, 11:10 pm, the following image is my most viewed photo on flickr. i took it in my sophomore year of high school with my chinon cm-3. i developed it myself, and i just scanned the print in.

pretty fucking sweet.

body image.
___________________________________________
these photos represent the effects of over-sexed advertisements, such as abercrombie and fitch ads, on the gay male population. advertisers and the media attempt to appeal to gay males by using images of unrealistic "perfect" bodies, with the goal that gay males will buy whatever theyre marketing because the gay male consumer aspires be like the models in the ads. because of this, gay males over-analyze their own bodies, and have distorted unhealthy perceptions of themselves.
(and though my intent was specifically about gay males, i think that the general idea can be related to anyone).

and just in case youve already read the above post in my old blog, heres a pic of my baby mama.

loves it.

bad religion.
for my communications imaging II class, i was assigned a magazine assignment, where i had to pick an existing magazine and design a cover page and spread for that magazine, based on a story idea that i came up with. my story was on religious fashion, and the magazine that i chose was genre, a gay lifestyle magazine. i wanted to give the magazine a makeover, giving it a more gritty underground feel, as opposed to its current typical flashy look. im pretty happy with the way the cover came out, though i like the individual pictures a lot better than the actual inside spread.

and totally unrelated, doesnt this remind you of the ring?

scary, right?

survey.
as a communications design major (graphic design, illustration, advertising/art direction), im required to participate in "survey", which is kind of the equivalent of a final. in survey, every comd major has to exhibit at least 3 pieces from each of their comd courses. at first, i thought my space was crap, but it ended up turning out pretty awesome. this semester, i put a lot more effort into my survey display, and was so much more prepared for it this time around.

sexy, right?
quiz for the day: what does 2 hours of sleep (on top of barely any sleep the whole week prior) do to you? it makes you look like a drugged out 14 year old, apparently.

sexy, right?
